Yashica Electro 35 GT

Nik/Stephen - hope you'll both be happy with the Yashicas - they seem very well put together, and ahead of their day in many respects.

No idea why it took me so long to discover them - I think I had an idea that Yashica was cheap or poor quality for some reason - which I now know to be wrong!

I just put a roll of Provia through my CC yesterday, so will be looking forward to seeing the results later today when the lab has them scanned.

Nik - regarding black cameras - I though everyone knew that black cameras take better photos! :D :D :D

Still waiting for mine :-( the guy I bought it off has been on holiday, should get it in a few days! I've checked out the Electro 35CC version, and with the 35mm lens on that, I might have to pick one of those up at some point if I get to liking my standard version.
I'm also awaiting a 70-150 Olympus lens with a 2X converter, which I hope to use at the FA Cup Semi Final next sunday, Man City V Chelsea ( City fan here!) it should be a great occasion for capturing some great images! especially as all the fans take over local pubs before hand, I've been to a few games between Man City and Man Utd at Wembley, fierce rivals, and there was some trouble, hopefully there won't be any this time!
I want to get more into street photography, which means being a bit braver, so this occasion where everyone's in high spirits will make it a lot easier to get in amongst it all!
Will hopefully get some photo's up soon !

My Chrome Electro 35G has just arrived, sans battery, but with a case! quick DIY battery mod, and thrown some Ektar 100 in, and it seems to work, lightmeter bulbs work but the battery test one doesn't.. still, for £35 with case & instruction manual and seemingly in good condition, not bad! (seems I've got the Electro 35 bug now, I found another cased one in mint condition for £35, so I've bought that one as well, this is a GS version, so, I will prob whack one on Ebay or give it as a gift if they seem to be in full working order)
Thankfully the weather has improved, the blossom is starting to come out, temp is rising, so should hopefully get some nice shots out of the beast!!!

I found another Electro 35, this time in the black! the GTN version, good condition, working with case, for £35, so now I will have 3 Electro's... hmmm the beginnings of an obsession? OLD GAS ? I'll just have to sell 1 or 2 on Ebay, running out of room for camera's! I would like to get the CC version with the 35mm lens eventually.
time to go and use the thing now..!

Check my signature, just keep them, they don't take up too much space, if they are getting bigger than the shelf then look at getting a nice cabinet for them :D p.s. I have 1 more camera on the way, plus bidding on 2 other unusual cameras lol :D if you do sell an Electro let me know, might be interested :)

I just missed out on a Bessa L with a 15mm Voigtlander lens for £240 on Ebay the other day, gutted... monday seems like a good day for getting good deals.
Will keep you posted about the Electro's, I will be letting at least one go, probably the G.

Just got my 1st test roll back, a few keepers, some have missed focussing ( which is probably me) used Ektar 100, which even in very dimly lit conditions, gave me decent prints, that was more than likely the 1.7f lens, but still, loving the richness of the colours! No missed exposures, this camera is idiot proof! slight vignetting wide open, which I actually like, so very pleased with the Electro 35! ( good job, as I've bought 2 more!!!) I don't mind the size in my hands, as they are large, but for practicality, will keep an eye out for the CC 35mm 1.8 version

Result Nik! :)

The exposure system is amazing - given it's simplicity and age - how come more modern cameras have exposure issues! :D

They are good cameras. I got some cracking shots out of mine when I used it constantly. This thread has really made me want to use it again, so I have ordered a roll of XP2 off Amazon, and given the camera a much needed clean up. I also found a battery with full voltage, so will give it a whirl again.
