Canon have confirmed today (21st February 2011) that they won't be attending this year's Focus on Imaging at Birmingham's NEC

The company, who usually have a large stand at the trade show, are currently participating in an 'ongoing review of their marketing activities' so won't be attending the show. A Canon spokesperson said: "It is unfortunate that this decision falls just before Focus on Imaging."

The annual show held at the Birmingham NEC will take place from 6-9 March.

Really am wondering why...............Sign of the times maybe?? well it saves me some fuel as i WAS going...........lol

Very odd - they seem to be in the middle of launching a whole load of new kit, so you'd think they'd be all over the shows etc..

It's a shame and the trade stand has most likely been paid for already...
probably some internal politics or disagreement as a guess.

No big deal though, people will still go to focus on imaging and people will still buy Canon :)

They realized that Nikon would never catch up, so they could save their marketing budget for more sushi and saki...

Nikon would never catch up ... HA!
Right outside Dodkin ... This has got serious!
Hehe

I do wonder if we should even avoid joking like this ... There are people who are actually serious about this sort of thing ... I'm pretty certain larry had a good word for them ...
It does make me apriciate how normal a bunch of members we have though ... I haven't seen it for a while (probably because I don't read other photo forums much anymore) but I have seen in the past people comparing different branded cameras on specs alone! ...
... I don't know why they would bother ... Nikon are always better on paper as well as in the hand ... Hahahahahahaha ... I should get on stage, really, with my geeky humor ... I'd make 10's of pounds I swear!!

Hamish............. does mine & Chris's forum privileges allow us to delete members..........?? NIKON members in particular......... hehe

Stop!!!!!! stop with all this camera racism !!!!!......................

I say to you today, my friends, so even though we face the difficulties of today and tomorrow, I still have a dream. It is a dream deeply rooted in the photography dream.

I have a dream that one day this forum will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all cameras are created equal. No matter what there spec

I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former nikon users and the sons of former cannon owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood and take lovely photographs of each other.

I have a dream that our little children will one day live in a world where they will not be judged by the manufacturer of there cameras but by the content of their works they produce.

I have a dream today.

That's not a dream, that's a fantasy. A fantasy fueled by the love of these cheap and gaudy trinkets from Japan. You can only learn the true path by casting off these button smothered, multi-mode monsters and worship at the gates of the great god Leica. The path may be expensive and fraught with frustration and limitations but you will be clearer of mind and soul as a result (and damned hungry 'cos you can't afford food). ;)

Amen to that ...
Although I had to sell mine :(

Canon sells the best cameras designed by engineers.
Nikon sells the best cameras made for artists.

:D ;) :)
