Capercaillie

Good shots, Gordon. Is the bird population still in decline, or have there been measures to increase the population? And what school of pronunciation are you in - 'cape' or 'cap' ?

The first with the way the foliage is like the Capercaillie's display is really nice.

Ps. i remember listening to Capercaillie late 90's.

Thanks guys,
The numbers of Capercaillie remain low, i knew of another one that got killed by dogs, hopefully i will get out next week and get some much better images, but the weather here has been horrible and no light in short days.
I never go near the Caper at weekends, to many people out and about and i don't want to draw any attention to him, thankfully he is much harder to find and off the beaten track.
Thanks Gordon.

Gordon,...Nice birdie fotie. However, please answer Rob's question: "cape" or "cap" by way of your pronunciational preference? Then, which is it,... "tattie" or "tottie?" (I have my own views on that one. :))

Hi Brian.
I would and everyone i know says "caper" never heard cap or cape except for maybe baseball or batman. ;)
For me its tattie, but in the central belt it will be tottie, ....... one of the reasons i stay in the Highlands, they speak funny down there.;)
Gordon.

"Tottie" is correct pronunciation, Gordon. :p

Hi Brian,
This is from the urban dictionary
tottie
good looking teenage girl
esp. one that is a tease or dressed to look older

look at that tottie,

I am sticking to tattie, and Ospreys and capercaillie are the only birds i'm looking for . :D
Cheers Gordon.

I'm wi Gordon with the tattie... I'm an east coaster though

I have to say that it comes as no surprise that you fall into the 'tottie' camp given the, apparently, accidental content of so many of you images! ;)

Pete, I cannot be held responsible for any stray tottie who elects to perambulate through my frame, inadvertantly or otherwize. (It's all down to Miss Sarah.) ;)
