Look at the size of that sofa they are being forced to squeeze themselves onto. And...it has a removable canvas cover. That is a really coarse material.

The kitten (Betty) chased them off the bed. She starts getting wound up about their bed time. :D

Tough life! :D

Almost talked myself into getting a dog yesterday, a wee Westie, a West-Highland Terrier. One of my students has one from a reputedly passive line, and this was one cool, happy Westie, not the wee barking snappers they usually are. It is a beautiful, happy dog. I met them on my walk around the Arthur's Seat landscape, and I started thinking how a dog might fit happily into my life. I teach from home four hours a day, go for walks every day - it would be fun to have a companion.

Then I remembered I have light asthma. My student says this dog is near hypoallergenic, and there should be no problem. She might bring it to her lesson. We'll see...it's not something I would take lightly. And I would NEVER subject the dog to this level of cruelty! Painful to see...

I think you would like having a dog Rob. Stanley my lab mix is the best friend I have ever had.

I've been lucky. I've always had a good dogs. (And yet, I've never had one as wonderful as Sadie--she's a special one.)

I don't think there has ever been a day gone by that Sadie or one of my previous dogs didn't bring a smile to my face.

However, they do bring with them responsibilities.

Yes. Rob's right to think it through in terms of his health, and the other things. Too many people don't, leading to sadness all round.

For instance, does he have space for a new couch of a higher standard than the one Steve has so reluctantly provided?
