Cinemagraphs as part of web design - Jenner Museum

Hamish Gill

Tech Support (and Marketing)
A long time ago now we started rebuilding the Jenner museum website, in fact, we rebranded them entirely It been a fairly successful project.
One of the big things we wanted to do was bring a little bit of something special to the website design.
We didnt want to distract from the content, but we did want something to catch the eye, and maybe the imagination.

This photo (actually about 20 photos) was taken in Jenner's office. Much of the paraphernalia is genuinely Jenner's and what isnt it period.
Suffice to say messing around with a lit candle did make us all a bit nervy!

Anyway, the outcome, we hope, does indeed capture the imagination

You can see it in action here Dr Jenner

This is my other favorite off the learning pages

The others function, but arent quite as good as these to my mind ...

We wanted it to feel as if Jenner had not long left ... the idea is supposed to represent how the things he achieved are a massive part of daily life now ... bit abstract, but there you go

Very effective Hamish and I like the site as a whole. It has just the right amount of period feel to it I think. I also liked the feather / quill. The globe is a bit 'clunky' though. Hard to get smooth though I can imagine without vast numbers of 'frames'.

Yeah, impossible whilst retaining some idea of reasonable load times ...
i like to do the three of them again to be honest, maye find sown thing else to animate ... One day, if the budget allows ...

Brilliantly spooky Hamish - that pestle and mortar freaks me out (in a good way)

Great idea for a website, and definitely an attention grabber

Cheers Buddy ...
I always forget we use my photos in websites when it comes to this place .... I have a few more to show off :)
