COLOURFUL

What lovely expressions. Excellent capture.

It's the saxophonist who caught my eye...

Lovely shot, Julian.
That's the one problem I have with this photo, too much going on. I would love to see it with more of a blurred background or with fewer people behind the bench. Not that it is not a really good photo as is.

It is very colourful, their expressions are great and a one I would have been tempted to photograph too. I also think unlike John, that the background has a certain significance as to where it happens. But as John, I would preferred the background to be a little more defused. Julian I take it, has probably used his long end of his lens and grabbed the image / shot as some may choose to say, as it occurred and for that he is forgiven.:D and on a lens like that, even aperture 4 and at the distance here, everything will be sharp. And lastly, you really got be quick. Very well done and seen:)

Good points, Ivar. It is definitely a candid shot, so the photographer has limited options for things like DOF.

Thank you John and Rense. Rob I was and after mostly drawn to the smiles and colour, but yes this used to be our, being my daughter and my annual pilgrimage to Ponds Forge Sheffield each year. Through the long week I had the opportunity to get around this small northenish city. Very colourful and also many buskers scattered throughout. I did take some images of the Sax player but they did not work, the guy came across as being very loud in presence in not a good way as well as the very loud out of tune sax. Interesting how music or sounds are so readily recalled, as I remember very little else.

I get that John and agree, reason I remember, I was quite close and a touch uncomfortable. ( I am on crutches permanently easily noticed and cannot run away ;) ) Saying that they were wonderful, yet I dont like to impose more than I did otherwise I'd have waited for the background to clear, yet again it was a very busy high street. One reason I'd never make a good street photographer.

Thanks Ivar. I think I was about ten metres away or a touch less but as you point out an APS-c sensor and a kit zoom at 42mm f7.1 not ideal. In fact the Sony Nex5n camera is the worst camera I have ever purchased although for a kit lens it can at times be ok as in sharp but no character.

Sell it, and all the others you rarely use or if at all. Buy yourself what your heart desires and which is neat, light, and a joy to use. The last is very important. Quattro is for car lovers, not for you, the way I see it.:D have a very good holiday. Tourists are coming are they? Oh, by the way. Fuji xt1 or 10 with an 18mm is great, with an option of putting on small lenses too. With a x100s you are limited. Just a thought young man.

I don't have a car!
Rob, I did not answer you here. :) I know you do not have a car. It is Julian I answered saying among other things that quattro is for car lovers.... I know you are frustrated over your temperary loss and now you have become short sighted too, like most people here.:D
