Contax G Sonnar T 90mm f/2.8 on Leica

Guys, I am thinking to get the Contax G Sonnar T 90mm f/2.8 as I saw the price is very affordable. Is anyone has tried to attached this len on Leica M9P with adapter, if so is there any problem on focusing? If anyone can share some photos took by M9 / M9P with this Contax 90mm len will be highly appreciate, thanks

I think you would have to get the mount converted! The difference in the FBD is only 1.2mm so I'm not sure you would get infinity focusing with some sort of mount adapter ...?

There is a 90mm f4 micro elmar in a shop near me for £1699 if that's any good to you? The photos it takes are stunning!

I saw some people will convert the mount to fix Leica M cameras, but if an adapter will solve the problem then I need to pay extra money for mount convert....

oh well, I was actually planning to get the Leica 90mm F2.8 version 1 E39 at the beginning, however after I reviewed some photos of the Contax 90mm, it really makes my heart move and the titian color looks good as well

Yes, Hamish is right, you would need to get the mount adapted. I think the 90mm can retain the basic housing though but other Contax lenses need a focus mechanism adding. There's a company in japan that does these conversions.

Thanks Pete, I did found 2 adapters in a China Auction web which cost about usd30, however the seller told me that it cannot focus properly, so therefore converting the mount the fix Leica M is a must

Yes, that's what I understood as well. The company in Japan do a full, corrected conversion.

I have the 90mm f/2 ASPH but it is not used a lot. It can be quite tricky getting focus just right at the maximum aperture. How about a 75mm?

I totally agree 90mm len won't use a lot. At this moment I won't consider for 75mm, I preferred to get a 90mm first, but thanks for your advise. In this case, I might keep looking Elmarit 90mm F2.8 version 1

If you had that response to it a conversion might be worth pursuing!
