Critique Welcomed Dawn Over San Francisco Bay

It's always a struggle (for me) to get my butt out of bed in the dark, (thinking of you again @Lesley Jones !), and go shoot some early twilight images - even though I love the light and the mood at that time of day.

Glad I bothered this morning though - just amazing light over San Francisco Bay about 45 minutes before sun-up.

Taken using the X-T1 with 23mm Lens - f/8 ISO200 - triggered using the Remote Control WiFi App

I only had my table-top tripod with me, and it needed a little help from my wallet to get the horizon level!

With the WiFi remote I was able to trigger the camera and not have to disturb the rather precarious set-up.

Very nice, Chris. Worth getting up early for. Are you far from the beach? It would take me an hour to get to Portobello, the beach near Edinburgh. Although I do get up about 6.30 each morning, I'm not functional until Susan makes one of her special cappuccinos! By that time, dawn has up and gone.

Thanks Rob - I was staying about 20 ft from the Bay last night, so it was a quick walk to get he shot!

Excellent Chris. Nice capture of great light. I never tire of the early morning light...of course all I have to do is look up from my bed. :p

God Chris your such a tight wad, there you have a 1k camera of Fuji's finest balancing on a £3 Hama placcy tripod. I use these for remote flash shooting, and they are so unstable. Not only that you balanced that on your wallet. Dear oh dear.

Beautiful pic, Chris - love the colours and simplicity of the composition.

How are you finding the XT-1 compared with your X-Pro?

I am in awe and envy!
Ivar - I was in awe when I saw the light - it looked almost like a painting as I walked towards the shore

Thanks Glenn - I was soooo tempted to stay in bed :)

LOL - that's all the tripod I had in my travel case Nick - at least I had one!

Thanks Shane - X-T1 is very similar to X-Pro1 for image quality - but the camera is more polished, and much faster.

The SLR shape is taking some getting used to again, after shooting RF style for two years

Nice. Today I woke up at 5AM in Tripoli. Unfortunately the view was not so good...........

Not that I am knocking the camera, just curious - Apart from the EVF what differentiates it from the X-pro 1 in practical terms?
Thanks Paul

Main advantages are:

8fps with tracking AF
new UHS-II SD Card compatible for faster write/read speeds
Weather Sealed Body (and lenses to come)
Larger rear LCD which also tilts
Optional battery grip with controls for portrait shooting
lower noise images due to PCB re-design
WiFi remote tethering and image transfer
Electronic shutter release options (2)
more knobs! :D
