Dawn over the lagoon

Got up stupidly early for a Sunday, and headed out to Batiquitos Lagoon for some dawn photography - Basically me sitting on a cold rock, getting cold, with a camera...

The back-edge of the cold front from yesterday was pushing through as the sun came up.

Can't decide if I prefer the full frame:

Or the 16:9 crop:

Also snapped this walkway through the reeds on the way out:

I like the 16:9 crop better. It seems to capture the drama of the sky for me. Having more sky, as in the first image, the rest of the scene gets played down for me.

We're getting well into spring so the dawn comes pretty early. If I try to shoot both early and late on censecutives dys I'll need a nap in the afternoon ; )

I know what you mean about that nap! LOL

I don't have any shots of dawn in my portfolio. There's a reason for that... laziness! But I admire your dedication to the cause, Chris. I actually prefer the full frame because to me, you lose some of the drama of the clouds otherwise. I prefer the shot of the path over both, though.

I agree with Darren too, Dramatic clouds does the shot nicely!! and as for number 3.... Wow, as I was scrolling down the page looking at your shot it felt like I was going to fall on my face!! wasn't expecting that!!! From horizon to feet, excellent shot! love the desaturation, works extremely well...
