Film (Movie) Recommendation

Last night while the girls watched some chic flick I went onto Netflix and watched a great movie. It was called "An Unlikely Weapon: The Eddie Adams Story."

Prior to watching the movie I wasn't familiar with Eddie Adams by name. However, like most people of my generation, I was certainly familiar with his most famous photograph. It was he who snapped the iconic image of the summary execution of a suspected Viet Cong soldier in the streets of Saigon.

The film takes you through Eddie's life as a photographer from his Vietnam days through to his death in 2004. He was a great character and this is a great movie.

Thanks Brian. Can't find it in the UK. I knew who he was but do not know much about him other than his Vietnam War images. Would be interested to see the movie if I can find it. I see there's a newish book on him. Might have to order it.

Worth seeing if you can find it, Pete. By the way, he was never proud of that image. It haunted him. He never spoke of it unless he had to. And, interestingly, although he (and undoubtedly others on the scene) was stunned by the suddenness and apparent barbarity of the execution, he revealed that he came to respect the man that pulled the trigger.

Thanks Brian - will have to check this out
