Another scan that I actually redone. After closer inspection I noticed that there was a fair amount of defects. I used a soft lens cloth to lightly buff the negative and then gave it a good blowing with the puffer before inserting in the scanner again. Also helped that I activated the dust and scratch removal process properly. This just had a few small changes in LR.

Now that looks better Paul. Very contrasty (I guess the original scene was though) but a great range of tones. I like the contrast of the calm cafe with the shops displays in the street.

Thanks Dan & Pete. This one still needed a bit of work. It seems the information is there but hard to see unless you make some adjustments. I found the Shadows and Highlights tool very useful, it sorted out the brighter tones in the image and revealed the detail in the wall behind the women.

This is where NIK Silver FX would allow you to get into the shadow detail of the ladies, and pull them out even more - if you were looking for an excuse to go NIK!
