Flash book

1st , I did a search - only 2 items came up .
I want / need a good book on flash .
I have the 7D , XTI , 580 mk II , 380 , several off brand flashes for EOS cameras .
I looked at peterson"s flash book - mainly for film .
Something that goes from basic stuff to maybe using on macro's . I am not in a studio . Will be like a walk about / general purpose thing .
I do have a ring lite and a few leds - be nice if they were covered too - not not a deal breaker .

I think you've got a problem with your keyboard Chris! ;)

I have the Nikon flash book published by Rocky Nook which is very good for covering their system. I see they also do one for Canon but I don't know how good it is. Most of the Rocky Nook books have been good though.

Mastering Canon EOS Flash Photography by NK Guy (Rocky Nook)

Actually Pete, the forum is not accepting the links I'm putting into my post for some reason - just takes me away from the page and then stalls for some reason

Any link with a .do page extension kills the forum by the looks of things :(

Let's try individual links to the comprehensive 4 part series...

Probably off camera .
All the camera store had was the nikon rocky nook . I did not even look at it .
I have been watching the canon master class [ 3 times since I saw today . I did not see the other 4 posted before it . will look at later .

I bought both -
Speedliter's Handbook: Learning to Craft Light with Canon Speedlites [Paperback]
Syl Arena
Light - science and magic - Fil Hunter -4th edition
So far Speedliter's Handbook: is pretty good . About 1/10 of the way thru it . Yes , I would buy again and has things I did not know in 1st few pages . Easy to read
Light - science and magic - will read after I finish Speedliter's

Speedlighter's Handbook is a good read.

Light, Science and Magic is not so easy to read (it makes you think!) but a must-have resource :)

thanks -
Speedlighter's Handbook is / was the 1st one to arrive . I am about 30 pages into it and have already had a few things cleared up [ learned ]
Light, Science and Magic I looked at . Saw a few of same pictures [ before and after - I think ]. Anyway unless something is not clear in Speedlighter's - I will probably read 3 or 4 times before I start the Light, Science and Magic book .
The only other flash reference I have is the Magic lantern CD [ which did not help . but then I bought it with the XTI CD ] PDF's and CD's don't really help me much .
I high lite and put bookmark tabs in my books . I really don't remember if I wrote that I try to buy used books 1st , then if I like it , I buy a new one . [ The used one is in bathroom and moved to car when wife is shopping ]
Neither of these books were for sale used so right now - just have slips of paper in them like " DOF " . [ I did leave my name on K & S- a camera store - and at 1/2 price books [ they both have a want this list ]
I don't know about where you live , bot there are no real book stores here where I live , they all closed [ there is a used 1/2 price book store still open here ]
