Fuji X10 - Baby sibling to X100 announced

When we eventually get the camera in, are there any particular areas you guys would want to know about - if so post what sort of test shot you would like to see, and i will see if i can.

i will be doing what i consider the norm : Low light/High iso/High res/raw/depth of field/speed of photo/etc...

well certainly stuff i would want to know about anyway!

post here i will see what i can do.

PS: Raw files need to use Silkypix (fuji's own) raw converter, so i will put the files up but you might not be able to open

Weird isn't it? Fuji lost it in the DSLR race because they couldn't innovate as well as the competition but then all of a sudden come out with ground breaking (in marketing terms) cameras that people lust over. The HS10 bridge camera is apparently quite impressive as well. I've seen a few things on the web where a few protoggers have been very happy with it and use it for daily use where they don't want to lug their large expensive DSLRs around. I think part of it is that the X100 and probably the X10 look quality that is on par with the M9 while other cameras look interesting but don't stand out.

Sold 2 HS20's yesterday, really nice bits of kit! Especially for the money!
I'm not sure Fuji lost the slr race as such, the s5 is a great bit of kit that still demands near £500 on the second hand market which was it's final RRP!
In terms of kit and desirability it was very great bit of kit ... My guess is that they just had to cut thier losses for some reason when they dropped it to £500 ... No idea why ...
But yeah, it might not have worked out for them, but there is no doubting that it was an awesome camera!

Yeah, low light/high iso noise performance is high on my list for compact camera info
But I'd guess how it handles and how good the vf is are as important with this camera!

Fuji's sensor and software were installed in Nikon-built bodies. As its standard with Japanese companies, no details have leaked out, but there is a well founded rumor that some sort of tiff developed between Fuji and Nikon and their partnership was dissolved. Fuji is certainly capable of building their own bodies—they build the Hasselblads, after all—but for whatever reason choose not to. On the other hand, Fuji has always gone their own way with their product line.

I hadn't heard that, but it certainly explains a lot and IMO is a great shame
I used a s5 and 17-55 dx at one point along side my d300, some pixel peeping showed greater dynamic range than the d300 although my tests were by no means scientific ...
Colour and skin tones were also wonderful straight from camera in days when I was less versed in post process and so it made a really nice wedding camera (I was by no means the only person to come to this conclusion)
I regret selling it a lot, especially as it got "lost in the post"/ I was scammed by a Russian and I lost my money...
