Fuji X100 - 11 month refurb

Not that I've had it for 11 months, but I asked the Fuji UK shop if they do annual refurbs. Seems they have 11-month refurbs. They sent me a padded box for free postage. And now my X100 is off to their factory. It was beginning to look a bit dingy after having been used fairly regularly over the last nine months or so. Looking forward to its being as good as new!

Is this a FOC deal or will you have to pay something?

My X-Pro1 will be due for some TLC, like your X100 it's seen some action this year!

I don't expect to pay anything, Chris, and no money was discussed. They are paying for all the postage and packaging. If I get an invoice for £500, I'll let you know! It's curious they call it an 11-month deal - presumably to get it ship shape before the one-year warranty runs out.

I bought it as a refurb, but I can't remember this being part of the deal. I was surprised. But maybe I'm expecting too much? Here's what they said

"We offer a 11 months check up on X100's. Please reply to this email with your full UK address and camera serial number, i will then arrange for some pre paid packaging to be sent to you so the camera can be returned to us. "

Now, "check up" is not the same as "refurb", but I expect they will clean it up, make sure all is in working order, etc.

Fuji UK service is great, I've sent mine back to them twice, first time for lens assembly replacement, and the second around 10 months ownership for view finder clean and lugs replacement. Both times they did a wonderful job and returned the camera to me within the week.

yes, this is typical of the sort of level of service i would expect from fuji uk!

Got my X100 back from Fuji - looks as good as new. No money exchanged hands. They have a 21-point check up, and gave adjustments to the macro and the lens, though they haven't said what the adjustments were and why they were needed. No matter, it's as good as new, and I'm very pleased.

The AF is no faster...Haven't noticed any changes yet, but I haven't done much with it. Will report back if I notice anything.
