glade creek grist mill

yet another old photo from last fall's adventures. the grist mill is made up of 3 grist mills salvaged from various locations around west virginia in the mid-1970s. i think the building was constructed from two mills and the wheel came from a third site where the building had burned down. it's part of babcock state park in west virginia.

Ahhh! Fall is coming. I like the compositions of this a lot. Nice colors and good perspective.

Those pops of color are gorgeous Beth - lovely looking composition with the lines of the rocks falling in waves down to the front of the shot - framing the final image

Can you give us some insight into shutter speeds to get that nice water blur without loosing all definition?

thanks guys.

chris, i did a lot of bracketing to get the right amount of blur. didn't use an nd filter even though it was the noonish because it was overcast and raining off and on.

Beth, your pictures often look HDR-esque to me. (I mean that as a compliment.)

i don't do any hdr processing, don't worry, no offence taken ;). in lightroom i usually darken the highlights and brighten the shadows, but leave the whites and blacks alone, so that could be why.

thanks dave and rob. rob i agree with being sleepy too, guess that's why i never manage to shoot a sunrise unless i'm on midnight shift.

Got to love cloudy days - makes colors really deep and saves you on ND filters! :D
