Grain Elelvator - Lower Saxony

Spend the weekend in a small farming village in Lower Saxony. It has a very characteristic, albeit, fairly bleak landscape. Not the most exciting place to visit but a good opportunity to capture a few more impressions of the place.

I like this, although I'm some what surprised you have left that much sky in :) , as weird as this may sound I would crop it. Although I guess you may have tried some already, I would have tried cropping the house out on the left with a crop on the right to where the trunk is on the first main tree of the small copse, I have always wanted to say that!

I see what you mean Vic. This is a slight crop and I have closer view of this elevator that I haven't processed yet (and more taken over the last 10 years). What strikes you about the landscape here is the BIG sky and the windswept fields, that's what I wanted to show here. I think looking at the images that I processed wile there and in the train on the way back, I think I need to make the style more consistent so they capture the impression of the place more. That's the problem with working on a laptop and not being able to put them side-by-side on a decent-sized screen I guess.

I figured you was trying to express the sky as that's not a normal crop for you. On viewing the others you see it more and they'll make a great set. It's a shame about the horizons but I understand why.

yeah I went all arty! no more Ben & Jerrys for me!

Love the repeating theme of the trees

I'd crop just above the tallest tree - super pano shot

Yes, pretty well. They were all shot in the last 2 days at a place called Gross Himstedt in Lower Saxony. I didn't especially have the theme in mind when I went there (for a family birthday) but there's not much to do and I've been photographing the area for a while now and as I started to take pictures the theme developed. In hindsight there are some elements missing but now I have started the project properly I can add them in later (although maybe not until next April!). I'm going to work on them today to unify the look and feel more.
