Grin

Thanks to their excellent exchange deal, Ffordes are sending me the DP0 Quattro (extra wide-angle - and with a viewfinder kit) and the DP3 Quattro (portraits and closeups). They should be in the post tomorrow.

No photo, just a big grin...

:)

Awesome. Looking forward to seeing what you can do with the new Quattros.

Well, my grin has morphed into a grimace...:(

When I was sending my old cameras to a camera shop near Inverness for evaluation, Parcelforce took FOUR days to pick it up. Each day they assured me and the shop that they were "on their way". Eventually they picked it up.

Thankfully it arrived in one piece.

So, I accepted the deal - all that stuff for two Quattros. They posted them yesterday to arrive today.

I phoned the shop at 4pm saying the package hadn't arrived. They checked the Parcelforce website, and it says it was delivered and signed for in a name which is not mine. I found a woman of that name in the next street. She said a delivery man asked her if there was a MacKillop in her block. She said no, and claimed the delivery man then said he would take it back to the depot. The website still claims she accepted it and signed for it.

I assume the shop will send me another package - clearly none of this is my fault. But when will they? They don't reply to emails over the weekend, and anyway, Parcelforce is closed until Monday. They will probably wait until Parcelforce has finished an enquiry.

All very frustrating. I assume I will lose no money, though the part-exchange deal clouds the issue.

Hopefully, the web site is incorrect and the parcel is at the Parcelforce depot.

I know what that waiting is like. I've got four new/old cameras here that need new foam light seals. There's no sense, at least that I can see, for running test rolls through them until those light leaks are fixed. I ordered kits from Japan and they arrived today. I'm about to start on the first one. Yea!

Yes also sorry to hear this Rob. One of those horrible things where I can myself in such situations have some anxiety, with the weekend not helping. I never liked these private parcel delivery firms but now find their service better than Royal mail or parcel force. They constantly update you online knowing exactly where your parcel is and text to say the hour it will be dropped and does not cost extra. But I guess maybe that can go wrong also. Lets hope it is all a mistake that can be sorted soon.

Thanks, Julian. I did find myself getting anxious, but did some slow breathing to calm myself down.

I would not use Parcelforce, but the camera shop has a contract with them, and they arranged everything.

I am truly sorry for your temperary loss Rob, for temporary I am sure it'll be. Have you really sold all your gear, left with only Merrills and Hexar? Aquirering quattros?

It was gear I rarely used. I'll never sell the Hexar, although one should never say never. And the Quattros will get a lot of use.
Have you given any thought to how you might use them? Silly question, of course you have. Since they are each designed for different scenarios, do you think you will carry more than one with you when you are out and about or will you choose one of them and then look for shots that the lens and camera combo will shoot best?

As you say, each has it's own specialty, however they can all do landscapes and street. Ideally I would wander out with a destination in mind, and the type of image I'll be looking for, with the camera to match. I guess the DP2, the "do a bit of everything" camera would be a good pairing with either the macro/portrait or the wide-angle. They're not heavy at all, so a light rucksack would be more than sufficient. So I could definitely take all three for longer journeys/walks. We shall see...I hope!
