grunge effect - brush away?

I recently tried a demo of Snapseed on my home computer, having farted about with it on mobile.

what I'm really looking for, is an effect similar to the SS 'grunge' filter, which can be brushed away. doesn't have to be a plugin for Aperture, though that would be appreciated. also if it had a variable slider for the strength of the vignette/soft

any ideas?

I'm not sure if you can brush away a layer in Aperture but you could make two copies; one as standard and one 'grunged in Snapseed. then open them in PS to give you two layers and then brush away to your hearts content! What do you think?

you can brush away in Aperture, it makes the likes of selective colouring easy

So using Snapseed as an external editor should work then. I guess the only real limitation would be the conversion to 8-bit but that shouldn't cause much issue most of the time.

You can brush away a filter in Aperture but as Aperture does not have layers I do not think that helps.

I have found desktop Snapseed a useful addition to Aperture, especially for quick Flickr uploads. I find the Ambience and Structure adjustments can really help pull detail out of an image, or separate the subject from the background in ways that I just cannot replicate in Aperture (which is not to say that it cannot be done).
