hacked off. Aperture/Photoshelter/user error!

I've been exporting images from Aperture, to my computer, and then uploading from there to my Photoshelter website.

I had the export preferences in Aperture, set to automatically enter my copyright details in the appropriate iptc box......now I find out that none of my website pix have this info

I know that Photoshelter can automatically upload my preset watermark, either from a singular file or from the IPTC box, I have not done this mainly because I think watermarks look horrible.

Now I find out that a model screendumped my proofing images and used them in her FB profile....so I get zero benefit there them not being wm'd (they would have been had I known she wanted them for social media - she just went ahead and basically stole them, because I set the gallery to 'view only' - despite me telling her that the gallery was there for viewing and discussion).

what do you do?

oh and, Aperture is supposed to have a feature to export directly to PhotoShelter, but this has never worked for me.

Can we see the model please ?

Dave

export some photos to your desktop, if the iptc info is there it's a photoshelter issue. if not, you've got an issue with aperture.

as for the model, i'd politely email her asking if she could credit the photos to my website or remove them and explain the gallery was just for viewing on that page. if that doesn't work, contact facebook and ask them to remove the photos due to copyright infringement. but nicely give her the option helping you out first, you never know when you'll want to work with her again.

I did ask her to edit the album so that I am credited on each shot. which to be fair, she has done. and also explained anyway when obtaining her email address for the gallery link in the first place, what the purpose of the gallery was.

Looks like I am going to have to compose a template detailing what can and cannot be done. Ho Hum
