I think that's a great post Tim.
Look at flickr for example, brilliant for posting pictures on and having more than expected apreciate your work from around the world, but not very often will you find CC on your photostream unless specifically posted in a CC folder of some sort. Almost, you 'fav' my pic and I'll 'fav' a pic of yours in return. So concluded, it is a show off site IMO.
Flickr is very much a 'non learning glory hunting show off' site really, but not in a bad way for those who prefer it that way!
What I'm trying to get at (after a few slurps of beverage), As a photog thats been serious for 3 years, I rhetorically ask myself where I've learned to improve more through style, technique, knowledge, apreciation, etc?
I have noticed that CC has just started creeping back in after the start of this thread, for myself, thats a brilliant thing, because I'm still learning, and I'm sure that there are many others out the too including the most experienced!
