Headed toward spring

No, make that “spring is here”, but winter may not be done yet. I have to believe there’s at least one more cool bit coming. Or maybe not. I’d love an early / long spring, but I fear we’re headed instead toward an early, long and hot summer ...for six months.

At any rate, the water lilies are showing up, even if nothing else has popped up green on the lake (although trees are budding elsewhere).

It's been above 80F (27C) probably maybe 10 days off and on lately. It's typically late early / mid May when that happens. We had some nighttime lows in January in the mid teens F (-9C) but it wasn't too often nor too long. I remember in the mid 1990s going to work on April 1st with everyone complaining about the "April Fools joke" outside: It was sleeting! I don't want that, either.

Wonderful photo. I like how the three colours – blue, orange and green – divide the image into three parallel horizontal bands and how the perfect spacing between the tree trunks defines a vertical rhythm, a choreography. In addition, we also have the third dimension with the tree in the foreground, which powerfully reminds us of the depth of the space in which we are immersed. Great photo, @Len Philpot!
