Hello all, just to say this forum is very interesting and has aroused my interest in photography after many years of not owning a decent camera. My new camera is a Sony NEX-5 with the pancake lens and short zoom. My other main interest is music and music reproduction, especially on vinyl.

Not sure this is the right place to put this. I own a Sony NEX 5-D, and was thinking of getting the dedicated e-fit Sony 18-200mm zoom lens to go with the 16mm and 18-50mm lenses I already have. There seems to be a bit of a shortage of stock of this lens at the moment. Have asked my local Sony Centre shop (Poole) and they say it will be another 3-4 weeks until stocks arrive, and they want payment upfront (which I thought was strange as a deposit would usually be okay, one would have thought.) Anyway does anyone know who might have one in stock, and of course, is the lens good.

Sony shops are usually privately owned and deal with the same "Sony one" supply network as s2s does so the wait will be the same but they will do it cheaper than the Sony shop for you!

As for if it is any good...
Probably ... The thing with these lenses is that they are a jack of all trades type affair ... Expect moderate distortions at the wide end (and I'm saying that without experience) and it certainly won't be as sharp at your 16mm
But, you will have a useful bit of kit that covers most requirements!
