Critique Welcomed Herald of Summer...

Bristol's Jack In The Green went on walkabout through the city yesterday to herald the coming of Summer.

Jack is a colourful figure, nine feet tall, and covered in greenery and flowers. He is accompanied by attendants, who are also completely disguised in green rags and vegetation. The attendants play music, dance and sing as they guide Jack through the streets to celebrate the coming of Summer.

It was quite a bright day yesterday, for a change, and last year the rain stopped and the sun came out as they started, so perhaps there is something in it....

This chap leads the way and bestows 'Jack's Blessing' on people which comes in the form of a smudge of green face paint on the nose. I'll have to improve my street photography before next year and see if I can capture a few onlookers for the record...
