Hexar Meets Ektar

First colour film through the Konica Hexar AF - the Ektar 100. Again, a harsh light yet dull too. I've cropped one, maybe two, and darkened very slightly one or two, but otherwise as is.

You must be pleased Rob!? You can tell that's a quality bit of glass ...
I do to think inhale ever shot with Ektar ... The colour of these is really lovely isn't it?!

Yes, very pleased. It's certainly the best film lens I've had. I'm not sure, but I think you meant to write "I don't think I've ever shot with Ektar" - yes, it's nice, but better suited to Brian's environment than a dreich Edinburgh, I think. I'm using up rolls of film lying around the house. Not sure what would be the best film for this lens. At times it can seem a little too sharp, if that's possible. Looking forward to days of warmer light...

PS I am loving having a fixed lens and no zoom! That's how I really got going in photography, when I had the Fuji X100. Some people say the Hexar is the spiritual grandfather (whatever that means?!) of the X100. I can see what they mean.

Brilliant Rob! That film looks as grain free of that of digital. Splendid results!
I didn't realise how much the Konica was (in cost that is). Worth it if it is going to produce quality images like those above.

Thanks, Dan. Certainly it was more expensive than any film camera I've had before. But the price is really much less than a single lens of similar quality, and you get a camera thrown in for free! Well, that's how I explained it to the girls!

Portra is the kodak film I like ... It's pretty much the antithesis of this stuff I suppose. The 160iao stuff is especially flat toned ...
I think Ektar suits these scenes though somehow, it brings out the wet!

... And yes, what you said is what I meant!

Single focal length shooting is all the more satisfying I think ... It removes a level of complication too!

Lovely, Rob. I remember when you shot Ektar before that you didn't like it. I love the stuff. Its my favorite color film. And, for what it's worth, I would disagree with your assessment of what Ektar is best suited for. I think you've shown in these foties that Ektar is very well suited indeed to driech Edinburgh.

I just want to apologize for the Coors 'beer' Rob - It should't be allowed

Camera looking very tasty - linking the Artisan Bakehouse shot very much

Chris,...it's probably brewed in UK. (And thus may well taste like slightly different piss than it does here.)
Couldn't be any worse than here surely! :D

Cheers, Brian. I might grow to like it more. One more roll of it left...

Chris... I've never heard of Coors. Not the finest brew, I assume. Makes a change from Tennants, I imagine, for some.
