On Pacific Coast Highway in Huntington Beach there is a shop that sells nautical antiques. These two fellows have been standing outside that shop for as long as I can remember. I thought one day I'd take our picture.

Olympus XA and Memories brand 200 ASA film.

I see what you did there - self portrait with dummies :D

Love the look Napoleon is giving the other guy (I guess I should know who, but I don't) - like an old couple who argue just by looking at each other a certain way!

Lovely story in the shot :)

Tom Selleck I think!! :)

I can imagine the conversation..."Psst, don't look now but it's that bloke who's been driving past here for the last few years. It look like he's worse off than us. Look at the state of that camera!!". "Yes, and his hat's no much better!!".

Excellent Brian. I like the idea of shots of things that register in our everyday lives. Nice, and the reflections are intriguing too.

Brian you are truly an inspiration :) I would have passed these guys by and not given them a second thought but seeing this makes me want to find out the x............traordinary in the ordinary. But what the heck is Old Napoleon thinking with that look did you upset him by any chance? :)

He does look like Tom Sellick!

"Yes, and his hat's no much better!!"
LOL!
I loved that hat! It fit "ma big ba' heed" rather well, it had a delightful patina of sweat stains, and the stitching on the bill and elsewhere was eroding quite nicely. Sadly, my wife threw it out last week. I warned her not to. I told her there would be consequences. Serious ones. She tossed it into the bin anyway. (Glasgow women!!!)

Thanks for the comments, Pete.

Too much pressure, Kev! (But I thank you with deep humility.) The XA is so hard to focus I imagine Napoleon saying something like,..."Wish he'd hurry up and take this picture." (It's what my wife and kids always say!) :o
