Huntington Beach Public Library--Late Afternoon

I liked that the glass of the west-facing facade of the library reflects the late afternoon sun while beyond, toward the northeast, the sky is still blue.

I took these shots last Saturday with a Mamiya C330 TLR and Kodak Ektar 100 film.

Below is another taken with the same camera and film from a different angle, but I was forced to crop this one.

The camera belongs to my friend. He has pretty good collection of old film cameras but he mostly shoots digital. He is always encouraging me to shoot with his old stuff--and even when I demur he will appear next day with a camera for me to shoot. Thanks for the comments, Hamish. By the way, you've got some super duper shots of that C3.

Almost makes we want to go out and buy... Hang on a minute!! ;)

The colour contrasts in these are super and I really like the divided composition in the first shot. The reflection and the wavy verticals they create in the second are very nice. Anything else worth posting off that roll - we're getting greedy now!! :)

Thanks for the comments Pete.

Not so sure. I took a couple of close up shots and I had high hopes for them. However, I failed to correct for paralax error (even though the camera has correction assistance built in) and so the compos on the film aren't what I saw in the viewfinder. This is the reason I was forced to crop image #2 above.

I may post one or two more tonight.

Do post some more ...
Were they shot on a tripod then?

I might put this damn hasselblad down and use the mamiya for a few rolls now I'm properly back into film shooting!

Those copper tones are something special - nicely observed

This building was designed by Dion Neutra, son of one of Richard Neutra (who is very well known in architecture circles). Very nice shots of it - especially the first one.

Good to see you back DB - you been away for work?

Thanks, Chris. Yes, December was a bit crazy and January has been, too. I had several work trips without my camera and just got back from Australia this week. I lost my father in early December, too...

:( Sorry to hear that Darren.

Darren,...sorry to hear about your loss.

Didn't know that. I just know I've always thought it was a carefully thought-out design. Thanks for the comments Darren.

Chaps - we need to get together in SoCal - who's up for a shoot, a chin-wag, and some food/beverage?

Thank you, Brian. It's been a rough few weeks...

Chris, great idea. Let's do something soon. I'm pretty busy through January, but fairly open afterwards.
