Hamish went over to my Flickr hang out and asked me to post my photos of this place. I got the idea of coming here after seeing Brian's great photos more than a year ago (it takes me a while!). I hadn't thought of this place for ages before that, but his shots were inspiring. I was on my way to Pasadena but stopped for a few minutes to take some quick shots. Here's the result:

Excellent, Darren. As I said before I like the wider angle view on the first one as well as how you rendered the clouds. Looking at your shot of the spiral walkway I now wish very keenly that they hadn't enclosed it. What a cool design it must have originally been to walk down it to the pool and garden level. Thanks for posting these, Darren.

Lovely stuff as usual Darren. As Chris notes, the colours in the first are superb and I like the trace of movement you retained in the water. Same with the lady on the spiral ramp. I missed your shots - welcome back.

Nice one for posting Darren, quite the coincidence you and Brian posting those on Flickr so close together!

I really like the look of this place! I recently discovered a love for taking photos in Worcesters library, and actually, I would say Brian's shooting of film with a compact camera and Darren's architectural work are probably two of the biggest inspirations in the sort of photography I now enjoy the most! So yeah, cheers fellas!

i have a roll in the ricoh again at the mo, but once I finish that it's Oly time! Work is slowing me down, Xmas was so nice ... I had so much time for photos! Aaaaanyway ... Yeah, as soon as I have some photos ill get them up with my thoughts!

Got confused I first thought these were new posts. The added images show of an architecture that is not always in favor but one a classic design used a lot where I lived when growing up, so does have a historical relevance for many as well as myself. Nice images indeed.

Julian,... the Huntington Beach Libarary was designed by the firm of Richard and Dion Neutra. Very famous architects. The original post is an old one of mine, and then Darren added in his beautiful images a day or two ago. So its a combination of old and new. I'm lucky enough to live just a mile or two from the HB Library. Darren lives in San Diego area so he was on a trek when he detoured to take the new foties you saw here. Thanks Julian.

Yes, Julian, as Brian said, this library is significant because it is by one of the most well-known and respected architects of the 20th century (Richard Neutra) and his son, Dion. But you are correct that modernist architecture isn't always appreciated...
