I Cropped The Chair :-)

Taking Chris's suggestion I did a couple of crops on the chair image that I shot at the Mission Inn and posted a day or two ago.

The first image below is the original. Then there is a crop that gets rid of the distracting (to me) corner on the right. Finally a 1:1 crop as Chris suggested. Any preferences?

I've just fallen off my chair Pete! :D

Crop 1 for me - even though I suggested 1:1 ;)

I'm not sure. Each has it's own qualities. I like the original, because the open door and sunlight adds to the tranquility of sitting onthe chair, reading a book. The crops are nice in that the chair becomes the focus, but part of the story has gone. So, on reflection, I thinking prefer the original. Cropping is so hard to get right!

Not only is cropping hard to get right, the whole notion of what makes a good fotie is a complete crapshoot sometimes. Thank you, Rob.

I agree with Pete, the door is required
If i might be so bold to suggest a bit of croppage to remove some of the left/bottom ... and to correct what i reckon was the original distraction with the door, the converging parallels... eg

I think that does the business very nicely indeed, Hamish. Thank you.

Cropping isn't hard, taking a good photo is hard ... Cropping is just a second chance at takin the photo!;)
Point well-taken, Hamish. It comes down to judgement, though, which is fallible.
