In The Wild

You kill me, Julian. This is what I've been trying to do with my similar shots. A balance of detail and softness. Absolutely beautiful. You keep on producing stunning work. Treat yourself to a cream bun :)

Thanks but don't beat yourself up Rob. All done pretty much in SPP . Minus X3 fill to soften and upped the sharping slider. The minus X3 fill as you know softens the image overall, the sharpening brings back some clarity to what is in focus. Also used the fringe dropper early on in the process.. Shot under late afternoon light which helped a lot.
I'll do without the cream bun thanks. Much prefer a good salad with a nice dressing any day.

Very beautiful work Julian. All three. The best I have seen of this plant.
But that second one is really something else. It has taken on the form of some mad, wild warrior in weird head dress and mask, eyeing up the enemy. He should be holding a spear.
The traces of yellow in the backgrounds add a lovely compatible colour.

Thank you Tom, 'mad wild warrior' Like it.

Lovely stuff - especially like #3 Julian - sharp and soft at the same time

Thanks Chris. I think that Sigma pulled a few stops over the last four or so years and have got some pretty good lenses to market, such as the new Art 35mm and the most recent Art 50mm. The Dp3 lens is in that line of being one of the more improved Sigma lenses of late, working well when given the opportunity. Just a shame it is not an f1.2 :D

I'm not a big fan of flowers or even weeds in photography but these are lovely images, Julian.

What is the 35mm equivalent focal length of the DP3?

Thank you Brian, 75mm I believe. I often doubt to pull it out on occasions, only to be surprised at how useful that focal length can be.
