Landscapes from the West Coast of Wales.

Had a weeks holiday in Wales and got a chance or two to bugger off in the evening to have a go at a few landscapes at sunset. After a bit of driving and a bit of trekking I was able to find a few good spots. Also finally got to give my Tamron 10-24mm lens a good try out. It has a focusing scale that is miles out and I had to focus on objects at known distances and write the actual distance on the scale with Tipex! Took me ages to work out why my shots using hyperfocal distances were blurred.

I called this one Lost Searcher. The names of the others are just boring descriptions of where they were shot.

Love all those little pools in #1 and #6, and the sunlight in #5 is great :)

should probably add that to 'bugger off' is to get out and about (in this case)

Reminds me of when mum and dad came to visit, and we took them to San Francisco.

We were standing in the hotel lobby in the morning, and mum shouts at the top of her voice that 'dad's just gone outside for a fag"...

Everyone turned around to look at this very understand wife! LMAO

We teased her about using that F word for the rest of the holiday - it does of course mean cigarette, for those not used to the Anglo Saxon version...

Ooooo errr missus! :) :)

Pete, Funnyly enough for some reason I thought of you when I was working on No 6. Seemed like it migt be up your street. Cheers Chris. I was quite happy when I got home and saw that the shots worked out quite well. I find The screen on the back of the camera useless for anything except a quick review of the highlights and histogram. It was bugging me for the rest of the holiday cause I wanted to see the shots on my large screen.

Yes, I like this window through window type of image. I have something similar taken in Prague a few years back.

I know what you meand about the screens. I rarely review shots and if I do I keep the histogram as an overlay. I aways have my MBP near to hand (usually in the thotel if I'm away) and down load into LR at least once a day (and backup) to amke sure I'm happy.

I like the beach and tidepool shots the most. They do a nice job of conveying moods and a great sense of the place. Stunning!

Great compositions. My favorite is the low angle light hitting the cliff in #5. Outstanding. Good job Paul!

Nice set! 1 is nice, but I like the composition of 6 better, and for some reason in this particular case the vertical works better for me, maybe because it really emphasizes the great depth of focus from front to back better, and I just like the way the foreground rocks are laid out better too.

I also like #5, that sun works well to cap off the nice view and composition. And #9, the window through the window is a great shot; I really like the way the B&W works on this one. I do maybe agree with another responder though who said they would have processed it darker. For me, I think maybe not necessarily just darker but with more contrast. In any case, great set, thanks for sharing!

Yes, 5 and 6 do it for me, lovely shots, the others are good to.

Possibly avoid having the horizons quite so close to the top of the composition in 1 and 6?

And, I agree I'd make the last one darker.

But well worth the effort of the driving and trekking!
