Critique Welcomed Lock & Chain

Walking by the beach this morning, testing the new firmware on the X-Pro1 - spotted this rather rusty padlock and chain on the bridge railing - and after nearly falling over the edge to get the shot - managed to bag the following image.

Lock & Chain

AF is definitely improved with the new firmware - even in Macro mode

Damn - hadn't noticed that Rob - must be wonky software or something! :D

Thanks Julian - It's like Christmas in September at my house! :)

Indeed - it's raining opportunity up in here! :)

Thanks Beth - I've not been called wonderfully rusty and crusty before, but I'll take it as a compliment ;)

I just found this forum. It's great. I have some of your photos on DPR and am just amazed with what you are getting from the X Pro. You are shooting RAW correct? I have been shooting only JPEG's. Beautiful photo!!

Welcome Steve - glad you found RPF :)

Yep, using RAW on the X-Pro1 and doing my conversions in Adobe RAW Converter into Photoshop.

I use Photoshop and NIK for my post processing - and I'm loving the results I can get with X-Pro1 files, they take post processing really well.

How are you liking your X-Pro1?

Post up some pictures - and pop by the Meet and Greet section to say hello to everyone

It's a friendly place, about 180 degrees different from DPR! ;)

Sorry for the delay. I had to take care of my parents this weekend.

In short; I LOVE the X Pro. I have stopped using my D700.

If my dogs will sleep for 15 more minutes I'll get something posted Meet-Greet section. I'm hoping to learn a lot here. DPR is just horrible. One thing I did notice was this forum seems to be about photography and not gear obsessing/comparing/complaining/whining/my gear is better than your gear/et al, ad infinitum. Even the other forum I used to go to has developed a lot of that attitude. I mostly just take pictures of my dogs. I have three large rescue dogs and they need a lot of exercise so that's where most of my spare time goes. However I have this goal to drive around in the area I live photographing some small towns. I have a general theme in mind but like most things an initial idea usually just turns into something else. So we'll see.

I sort of new comer to photography and late in life too. I'm a big fan of William Eggleston and Robert Frank among others. The book The Americans is what got me interested in photography. That said, I think I prefer color photography. Probably because B/W is very hard...:)

I love the photographs of yours I have seen.

Thanks so much!!

Steve - you hit the nail on the head about this forum - no egos and lots of photography :)

You and Lesley will get on like a house on fire - she has a whole menagerie of rescue animals that take up 99.9% of her day!
