Nice set Kev - and the vintage treatment really suits the theme

Love the timing on the canon shot, and the last shot with the casing leaving the rifle.
 
I agree with Chris wholeheartedly (I'll be shooting 16:9 next!).

No haven't used it I usually add a layer, fill, add noise, change layer blend mode to multiply reduce opacity to suit, similar process I think, always open to new ideas though
 
The basic idea is reduced saturation an increased contrast ... Seems to suit the WWII stuff pretty well!
I also specifically further reduced the blue saturation ...
Give it a go, I think it gives this sort of thing a bit more pop without looking too modern
 
I'll have a play, the colour WW II have had a similar treatment to this, mainly in camera raw running with the vibrancy and HSL/Greyscale tab
