Critique Welcomed Man Down on Sand

But why?

Holga 120N with light leak and Ilford C41 B&W film cross-processed in Rodinal.

A thought: Looking at how out of focus the people in the lower right corner of the frame are due to the cheap plastic lens of the Holga, I think "so what? What more is needed there?" Opinions welcome.

Well I think it is excellent Brian, the people to the bottom right are ok, but what I really like is the person who decided enough is enough and has lain down, or is there a pub nearby.

Thank you Julian. I was watching the cyclist coming. I never even saw the prostrate fellow until I developed the images.

My initial thought was that the man lying down really makes the image, and there is a woman walking towards him with I'm not sure what. IrnBru?

But now my attention has shifted to the cyclist, who has a very good posture, and a great shadow.

As for the oof parts, it's a Holga! We expect these things, so it's best not to have the main subject close to the edges.

A fun fotie, Brian!

Thanks Rob. By the way I see your spelling has improved. ;)
I don't know what the woman was carrying, but I know what she wasn't carrying: Irn Bru! (The nearest bottle is probably hundreds of miles away.)

The cyclist was the intended subject. My point about the out of focus areas wasn't to poke the Holga quality, it was just to suggests that the suggestion of people with actual faces is good enough in a picture such as this; we don't need to see everything with crystal clarity. Thanks again, Rob!

Wonderful composition, Brian. It is interesting that one of the few elements that is in motion becomes the anchor of calmness in the picture - i.e. the cyclist. Love the intersection of the curved kerb with the bottom RH edge and the blurry group there. And those ordered lines of volleyball nets. But then there's that huntress, closing in on her prey having downed the man with a well aimed bolas!

Thank you very much Pete. I love your interpretation of this image. However, I must take exception with your assumptions of the reason for the felling of the man. I believe actually he has been felled by a bullet from an unknown marksman on the grassy knoll to the right of the image. The huntress is actually rushing to render aid. That's what it is.

Thanks again Pete. Much appreciated!

So much going on in this image, but my attention was immediately drawn to the cyclist seated on the right...is he connected in some way with the guy lying on the sand...?

Thanks for the comments Dougie. Highly doubtful that the cyclist on the right is connected in any way with Sandman. Cyclists and other passers-by often use that wall to sit upon and pass the time. Thanks again Dougie.

And I thought it was a Hollywood cast, starring Helga. Well as you said Brian, there isn't always clarity around, obviously. How come when I touch the image it starts to flickr and ends somewhere else. Must be a scene from a film, right? o_O

It's California, Ivar. Everything is shaky here. ;)
