Yes, it's a strange one. Standing almost at the beach, on top of the dunes near the Omaha Beach monument, it receives all the western winds coming from the Atlantic. Resilience of life....
I don't think so Julian. I think it is a rather juvenile one, although I am not sure what the effect is of the salt-spray and storms on the growth of maple. But this species is a rather swift grower, and I think it could not have survived the battles in June '44... So it must be post-war....
