Minimalist landscape

I like large, dramatic landscapes. That is why I love the mountains, of cliff-coasts or, as an exaggerated example of the later, the Norwegian fjords... But I come at peace at the sea, where there is nothing else than water, sky, sand, a low rock perhaps, some sign of human occupation.... The one place where I feel happy, truly happy, is near the sea.... This photo depicts the feeling, I think....

I love it when a photograph or a comment triggers a memory. When I was about 13 years old, my mother, recently divorced, and very, very stressed, suddenly told me to follow her. She didn't say another word. We got on a bus, then another bus, and then we were at the sea. She just sat looking at it for an hour or so, still saying nothing. Then: "Sometimes I need to see the sea. Then I'm alright". And she got up, and we left for home. Neither of us mentioned it again.

Thanks, Rense. I have that feeling now.

Very nice comments you 2. I too feel at peace by the sea it must have something to do with the constant motion. I guess thats another reason I have a marine tank at home.
Thank you both for sharing.

I, too, love the sea. It isn't surprising, since I am mostly English and one-quarter Norwegian. These photos are beautiful. I can hear the waves when looking at that second photo. The first image is spectacular. I love minimalism.
