My Local Leica dealer (of all places) came up trumps with the new Fuji XF 55-200mm Lens - ahead of the release date!

Not had chance to try it as I grabbed it on the way home from work - more later when I get the chance to actually unbox it :)

Beth, I had been looking for them online - then saw my local Leica store selling one on Amazon!

Called them as they opened at 10am, and had them put it to one side until I got to them on the way home.

Total fluke!

Had a quick play this evening and the image stabilization is amazing - AF seems very quiet and fast compared to the original primes

Will hope to test it properly in the next few days

See, I'm more of a girth man my self ... But, each to their own ;)

keep us posted, I have an inbuilt negative reaction to a lens with a 55-200 range because of all of the cheap canon and Nikon versions ... Silly really as I imagine its not warranted here at all

The shots of seen using this lens do look amazing. Looking forward to seeing what you both come up with. The 18-55 zoom has been a great success for Fuji, and I'm sure this one will be too.

Test shot - tiny chapel outside Yuma AZ

Lovely lens - IS is rock solid - zoom is smooth and easy to use - AF fast and seems spot-on

found the lens waiting for me when i woke up this afternoon. no pics yet. had a quick play with it and found the same as chris. the af is quick and accurate. the zoom was was easy to turn, but didn't feel loose. it fits nicely on the camera and in my hands, everything feels solid.

love that shot chris!

Glad you got sorted Beth :)

The chapel was so cool - It was built in 1995 by farmer Loren Pratt on the edge of his fields along the road, in honor of his deceased wife Lois.

It measures just 8 ft. x 12 ft. inside.

just grabbed my first shots with the lens in the beginnings of tropical storm andrea. i'll post them later. it's not half bad as a close up lens. couldn't find any birds, guess they're smart enough not to go out.

Rob - I think this lens will have potential for portraits - good focal length and nice bokeh

I'll see if I can grab some at the wedding this weekend as a test

Looking very nice Beth

How are you finding the contrast from the lens?

Nice one Chris, looks like it fires out some good shots. I've seen a couple on another thread you have recently done.
Nice and crisp.
