Critique Welcomed Mona Vale Beach Sunrise

Sunsets/Rises tend to be two a penny and to stand out from the crowd a sunset/rise shot, I feel, needs to have that something extra and different, what ever that may be. Being honest I don't find that something extra in your first shot Milan . Just a little too similar to the hundreds of others we see all over the web. There is nothing wrong here but you know when something just doesn't click or connect with you.
However I am really enjoying the second shot here. There is something surreal/magical about the colouring and lighting of the excellent foreground area that takes this simple composition to a different level. The foreground looks as if it is totally artificially lit, though it may not be; it just has that type of glow Lovely pink emerging above the island on the right.
Personally, I prefer sunsets/rises that do not actually feature the sun itself, but rather it's effects.

Thank you Glenn.

Thank you Tom. I appreciate the feedback. I also prefer the second as it is different. However, I am still not happy with the processing. The carpet of weed is in places quite that bright green, especially as the sun catches it. 10 minutes later it was getting submerged as the time was coming in. We all differ in what we like or what clicks with us. That makes things all the more interesting.

Thank you for the fact that we all are perceiving things differently and I say that the first one is very pleasing to my eyes and the sun is not too harsh here, so I like it. The second one should not be compared to the first and I think Tom has said it all. A very fine image indeed mate, just lovely.

I like the first one, although I understand Tom's point. I might not have put the sun smack dead center myself, but ...

The second one is very cool - I love the colors and light on the ground. I am still not completely sold on the aggressive aqua sky however. But I do think the image is interesting and I keep going back to look at it, so it must have some visual hook :)
