Morning Wakeup, What a View

Every Morning, while working In Langkawi, Malaysia, I was treated to this majestic view. It is a reminder on how beautiful the Earth really is and how bless we are to wake up everyday to marvel at such a thing.

I wish everyone had a majestic view of one kind or another to start their day.

Man, thats a view Jarrod - stunning!

the view out of my window is often a strange teeneage girl who dances in the window or a chubby lady in her bra ... its not great really ...
that view on the other hand Jarrod is something else! nice shot!

Id certainly have an easy job getting my self in trouble if i took a shine to photographing out of my front windows ...
I should perhaps avoid breaking my leg and being confined to the house ... :)

My loft has a nice view mind! :) maybe a theme could work ..

thankfully my loft looks over the top of the houses at the front

No matter where one lives there are interesting subjects to photograph. That skyline would look real nifty with some clouds lit by the rising/setting sun. And the rainbow is nice!

i always wonder, english buildings must look interesting to photo to american people ... as american buildings always look more interesting to me ... you get used to your surrounding ... the key to photography ... without wanting to sound pretentious ... is looking at stuff! this is why most of my stuff is isolated details of things ... even if those things are fairly mundane like some drain pipes or somthing ...

That is so true Hamish, even the most mundane things have details and patterns that can make great photos.

I have found that since I started with photography (2003) I really learned to look at the world with different eyes, and what a wonderful world it is! I now see beauty and wonder where in the past I was almost blind to it. Photography really made my life better and I am a far happier person due to photography :)

But you must look, and look again!

I'll tell you what I find most cathartic; just going out with a simple zone focus compact from the 50's!
I have a couple of voitlander vito b cameras ... If I have a free afternoon I love to take the dogs for a walk and take a film of snaps! No lightmeter, no rangefinder, just the sunny 16 rule and a bit of common sense! Then just take the film to a high street d&p shop an see how well I have got on ... It's ultimately incredibly satisfying, even if the content of the images isn't that interesting, having used ones knowledge and a bit of mental juggling to obtain well exposed results is about as good as it gets for me! There is a strange satisfaction in it that I find clears my mind of all my woes!
