Out on the end of the Huntington Beach Pier stands Ruby's Diner. This gull hovered over Ruby's one afternoon. The pink appearance to his (or her) feathers is caused by the reflection off Ruby's roof, which is red.

Looks like he (or she) has his (or her) lunch with him (or her).

Canon T-50. Canon 28mm FD lens. Kodak Gold 100 film.

Or an old cigarette end! I like this shot a lot Brian. There is a real sense of something about to happen about it. And I keep wondering what that bit sticking out of the roof is - has it any relation to the gull? Is the gull about to land on the roof or just swoop away? Such a simple shot but...

Lots of folks fish off that end of the pier. I believe the gull has a bit of bait in her (or his) mouth. But, yeah,...could be a cigar but or something.

I think that's a feather trapped in flashing between the roof and the facia.

Don't remember that gull landing while I was watching.

Thanks for the comments, Pete!

The gull clearly hadn't been eating Ruby's as it was still light enough to take off! :D
