spotted this chap on Sunday photographing the motor bikes.......Silver canon Dslr with black battery grip and some ancient lens that i dont think i have seen for real before in my life. I tried chatting to him but he was a bit ignorant, didnt wanna chat & walked off so i didnt find out what the lens was.........lol

That grip pattern is the key to working out what that lens it... cant quite make my brain remember!

nah, its a push/pull zoom, you can see the focal length markings of the barrel
