Ah, so probably the difference between my desktop and laptop!

I ran into a problem recently with my photos not looking right in a browser. They would look great in Photoshop, but then look way too dark in anything else. I finally figured out that it was a matter of embedded color space and whether the software that I was using to view the images could use that color space. I use Firefox and had to make a change to the settings before it looked right. Windows preview pane still doesn't look right unless it's in slideshow mode.

Thanks, John. I suspect the difference I saw, if at all, was quite subtle and probably due to me assuming the image had changed, whereas it hadn't! My desktop machines and my laptops are all colour managed and differences between them are quite small. However, the one I looked at the image on first (or rather the monitor in particular) just before leaving the office is a wide gamut display (NEC Spectraview) and images rendered on it are slightly lower in contrast as a result. You can see them in this thread from ages ago - the only difference now is that all 3 NEC monitors are the same size (and the imaging suite in the UK has changed a bit). Hmm, maybe we need to update that thread in general (we all like to be nosey! ).
