Postcard HB

As Pete says a wee bit over cooked. Interesting, yesterday I was looking at postcards in a shop rack. They dated back to the 1980's. and sadly they looked really awful. It was after about this time that a few photographers took a newer look at holiday postcards in this area and did produce some reasonable images, often with a different slant, rather than the harbour view, it would be Cornish hedge rows or Cornish dry stone walls with the local plants, more abstract colourful images, so the subject matter did change dramatically.
Most of the post cards I noticed in the racks are sun bleached from being outside which gives them an old worldly look. Liking the postcard format which is why I often use the white border to replicate the look.
Nice one Brian.

Dunno Brian...I wouldn't call it overlooked...just well done. [doh] Sorry...it's real early...coffee required.
i do like the overall feel of the comp. it really does scream 50's.

Pete, Julian and Glenn,...Thank you all for the comments. (Julian: I see I can take you seriously again!;))

I've taken a stab at pulling the reds back a bit as you suggested, Pete. I also fiddled with the vibrance and saturation. Here it is again. (Not so well done I hope this time Glenn! lol)

Thanks

I actually like the 1st version Brian - it's lovely and postcardy - really sells the place as warm and tropical - it's a fiesta in a card! :)

Thanks, Chris. I think I prefer the 1st one also. I'm not saying that Pete and Julian and Glenn aren't right in their assessments; perhaps I could have processed #2 better, though. Thanks again, Chris.

I like them, very much similar colouring to the view master stuff i'm playing with :D

I also prefer the first but think that is because the second is a bit flatter overall. How about a S-shaped curve adjustment to it?

Not sure I'd know how to emulate what you suggest, Pete; I'll take a stab at it, though.

For the second one I was working off a JPEG copy of a JPEG file, whereas for the first I was working off a JPEG copy of a TIFF file. I wonder if this accounts for the extra grain in the second?

-30% on reds, +5% on blues and a very delicate surve adjustment. In LR.
