I think no 2 i my favourite of the set so far glen....are they fighting or is this a mating ritual........lol
I saw others landing next to each other and they didn't seen bothered about them encroaching on their territory. So I'm not 100% sure but they could have been greeting each other
.
Soon afterwards they did a bit of bill fencing
.
Can you give us some indication of conditions on exploring the island and getting to and from the landing points either side.
The island is a nature reserve and you must stick to the paths because a lot of the birds nest on the ground in holes like the Puffins and Manx Shearwaters. The steps and path from the landing point on the island is pretty steep but once at the top its fairly flat but a couple of the paths are close to the edge of high cliffs. Also there are no trees for shelter on the island so if it starts raining you will get wet so the right clothes for the weather are vital
.
There is only one place to get a boat that lands on the island and that is at Martins Haven right on the south west tip of Pembrokshire (I don't know how to post one of them Google map things
).
The car park at the top is owned by the National Trust so members can park free otherwise it is £4 for the day. At the bottom of the bank you buy a landing ticket to get you onto the Island which costs £8 and when you get on the boat which costs another £10 boat fair, but if you like birds as I do it's worth it and there's not many places you can photograph wild birds with a Macro lens.
One thing I will say for anyone thinking of going... go EARLY!!!
When we went the first boat was at 9:30 and the warden said when she arrived at 7:30 there was 53 people waiting already!!!
They only allow 250 people on the island each day so once all the days tickets are gone that's it. We got there at 8:55 and had to wait for the last boat on at 11:30
