Took this at 7-30 this morning. Only pp is a crop didnt think it really needed anything else as was after the silhouette effect which think works quite well. Still feel free to rip it up lol

For anyone interested its Broughty Castle.

Stunning photo, colours, reflection & silhouette are all truly brilliant. It really was worth being out & about so early.

Great capture

Wow - what a location - worth getting up at o'dark 30 for :)

Great composition, and I love the pano crop (of course).

Worth having a play with a slight tweak clockwise on the horizon?

Also worth having a look at the image histogram and having a play with levels.

You can see the original image data is pushed towards the left (black) end of the histogram in version #1 - and peaks out at around 190/255

That's a chunk of dynamic range to disgard - so you could move your white point in to say 193, and still preserve the nice dark silhouette of the castle. (As in picture #2)

What do you think?

I like the original...if I was going to play with levels I'd have to adjust the grey point down to about 0.77 to bring some fire back into the skies.

Great shot Allan. I would only tweek the horizonal a touch as Chris suggested. Interesting perspectives from Chris and Adrian on other adjustments. They both look good; one emphasising the silhouette, the other the sky. I still prefer your original as having the best balance.

I often see sunrises and sunsets on the Rocky Mountain Front that river your sky. But the reflections? None here. I like how you got both to be so prominent.
NIce!

cracking shot Allan, i'd go for the original with a straight horizon ... broughty castle never looked better
