Riding the Wall

Snapped this shot of some "young uns" who were taking turns trying to ride up the side of the wall that separates the beach level from Pacific Coast Highway in Huntington Beach.

Canon T70 and Ilford FP4 film that I processed in Rodinal.

The dev style and the lack of modern tech in the shot makes this one timeless Brian

Agree totally with Chris which were my first thoughts being along the line of Steve McQueen, era west side story or the such. Or even today. I do like a lot the portrait diagonal orientation. A good way to get away from the norm, along with really good processing. Smashing image.

When I think of Steve McQueen I think of his epic motorcycle scape attempt from The Great Escape. Anyway,...Much appreciated, Julian. Thank you.

Excellent again Brian and I can only echo what has already been said. I love the competitive feeling that comes from the from the group of observers (and the guy further along the 'promenade'). And the timing of the shot, at the peak of the curve works so well too.

Thanks, Pete. I watched a few attempts before I took this shot. This guy was about as high as any of them ever got. Thanks again, Pete.
