Critique Welcomed She Wonders What I Am

My daughter #2, Meg.

We went up to UCLA today to visit daughter #1, Caiti, who is doing a post-graduate degree there. The four if us (me, Meg, Caiti and SWMBO) went for lunch at 800 Degrees Pizza in Westwood. That's where I snapped this fotie of #2, Meg. I retrieved the Polaroid SX-70 from my backpack and she looked at me with bewilderment as I set up to take the fotie. This is the result. I think she had not seen me use that camera before.:)

I used Impossible Project color film, but as you can plainly see the picture is almost a sepia monochrome. I think maybe if I had shielded the fotie from light better when it ejected from the camera the colors might have appeared.

However, I like it the way it is, too.

Superb shot Brian and excellent photograph.
Funny enough when I opened this I wondered how you got that Polaroid look :). Now I know

It does look as if it has had a different treatment from the Flickr image, which has slightly more contrast and white border maybe?

Thank you Julian. Yes, I have adopted a different strategy from many other people when I want the Polaroid look: I shoot with a Polaroid. :D

There was no difference in processing between the RPF and the Flickr versions.

Thanks a lot, Julian!

It is a great expression and a nice capture of it and I too like the tones that have resulted. Have they changed at all since? The new impossible film is much improved in terms of colour fidelity although it is still quite slow to achieve the maximum. They have made a new batch of the improved mono in SX format too. I bought a few boxes with my loyalty bonus but have yet to shoot anything with it. Soon though.

Thank you, Pete. I took the picture just yesterday so it may be too early to say if there is any change in tones. However, I understand that the latest batches of the Imposible color film is now pretty stable. Time will tell. Thanks again, Pete. (By the way, I'm looking forward to somedau seeing what results you get from your LF Impossible film.)
