I used a preset from "SilverEfex Pro 2" plugin as reccomended by peter on another thread i think.........!!

What do you think folks.

I can see why mine looks muted now compared to yours ... Again more real!

I'm not so keen on the black and White ... It suffers from the problem I had when I was tweaking with mono version ... It looks muddled to me ... No sense of anything to lead the eye ... You know what I mean?

yes i know what you mean hamish....BW seems a complete mess..........haha

I must agree too. That's the problem sometimes, without the colour information everything is tonally too similar. Try the colour filters at the conversion stage in SilverFX Darren. You can probably get some tonal separation from them as you would when using a filter to shoot through.

Well, here's my effort, all done in photoshop.

I went B&W, then tweaked the colour temp of the original RAW to get the tonality I was after.

Then added a grad to the sky area to pull back exposure and brightness.

Tweaked black levels, then added fill light to pick up the foliage on the trees - sharpened in RAW converter 100 at size 1.4

Cropped to 16:9 to take out some of the sky, and the foreground weeds.

Eliminated the half sheep at the bottom of frame.

That's a similar crop to mine Chris in terms of removing the stuff in the most foreground ... And a good effort at making it not complicated to look at, I couldn't get that to happen!
I reckon a darkening in general and darkening o the sky would make that work ... Care to send me back the raw file as it currently stands?

Cheers Alistair, I'm quite pleased with it really ... Although info find it a little "biscuit tin" like

Very Nice Joan, thats the sort of b&w i was thinking of but couldnt work out how to do
Are you trying to tempt me into another Print ;)
Did you do that in lightroom? would you save it as a preset for me to have a look at? or is that a bit cheeky?

dont worry to much Joan ... dont want to put you out if its a faff.. just intrigued .. it was rally only if you had done it in lightroom so i could see the methods ... i dont use photoshop by its self anyway so the techniques will probably go over my head anyway!

My version. A bit less contrast than the original! All achieved by clicking lots of things till it looked right, or maybe not!
