Stairway Standoff

Or so it may seem. Took Sadie a walk this morning and climbing the steps from the beach level to Pacific Coast Highway level I encountered Jolly Johnny there along with his pooch. Pooch hunkered down as if to pounce on Sadie but we were not intimidated by either of the two of them. I snapped the fotie and on up we went without incident.

I developed two rolls today in the same tank and on some images I have that dull stripe that you see along the left edge here. Don't know why, except maybe that it has something to do with the top roll in the tank perhaps not getting enough developer. (But I put way more in than is necessary according to the tank specs.) Maybe someone else can suggest a reason?

I like the shot and the way the trunk of the tree reflect the lead on the other side of the dividing bannister. It certainly has the look of a standoff.

Th stripe certainly looks like partial immersion. Is it possible that the spool slid up during inversion / mixing? What about the volume of fixer?

Thanks, Pete. I always tend to use more developer or fixer than is specified, just so I cover the reels and then some. The slipping up of the reels is something I have suspected.

Do you shake or invert?
Maybe the reel got stuck on an inversion?

Nice tence moment though... Emphasised by the woman's pose nicely!

I invert, Hamish. Its a slight friction fit between the reel and the center post of the tank, so maybe that is the answer. I have been suspicious of it for some time.

By the way,...that specimen at the top of the stairs is a bloke. Thanks, Hamish.

Well, you know how it is Brian. A few bears, a bit of film grain in the eyes and a bloke with long hair. Easy mistake really.

Good sense of tension in the image, shame about the streak but in some ways it adds to the grunge feel of the photo

Thanks Paul.
