I gave the D800 a rare outing for this portrait of a Steller's Sea Eagle, which was taken at a birds of prey centre. I had the 500mm on a tripod, with an SB900 flash set to -1.7EV to balance the exposure with the ambient light levels - The bird was sat in shade with the background being in bright light. I was using the vibrant colour of the background to help frame this magnificent bird. It took 45 minutes for the bird to finally strike the pose I was waiting for!
