Stripped, Gutted... Beautiful.

The Ricoh was MINGING. Sticky horrible light seals in the thing, the lens casing was loose and called for a dismantle to see if a solution was on order. And there was, simply three screws tightened right up to suit. Done.

Dan, can I ask - and is it easy to reply... how did you dismantle that?! I think mine the same and want to take a look!

All I've managed to do so far is take the shiny strip off :D

Ah, disregard that Dan... just found out! I now have a non-wonky front end! Oo'er :)

Rather chuffed with myself!

Now then, light seal goo removing tonight - someone's had a go at it but not done the job particularly well.

Nice one Dave.
Sorry I didn't reply sooner...
Looks like your getting the hang of it anyway. Fair play!!:)

One thing I found very good to remove the light seals are -
- Nail varnish remover (pour into the lid to dip)
- Cotton ear buds (to apply the nail varnish to the area needed
- a straw, any size to remove the funky gunk
- tissue/cotton pads to remove excess residue.
- Kitchen paper/card cut to just over 35mm in size to cover back of optics (you DONT want any gunk getting down there OR nail varnish)
- and Sellotape! :) done!!

Just make sure you don't get any nail varnish on the viewfinder, plastic, or glass and you'll be fine.
Saying that, where has the old seal be put on? The metal back door? (Hopefully)

Dan, you're a scholar. Thanks.

All done :) I went with cocktail sticks, ear buds a touch of nail varnish & wet wipes. Wet wipes are great, they clean almost anything! :D

Now then, where do I buy light seals from. eBay?

Thanks dude, :) Not sure about that, but I don't think mine was as bad as yours.

I've ordered the light seals, just got to sit and wait now!

Oh yeah, I have my Fuji to play with :D

Mild heart attack then...... Thought you were going to take that apart then. Lol

Oh.... Update on my 500G.......... It's dead.... Really dead!!! :(
The shaft for the shutter button has snapped ..... Clean!! :(
I'm going to have to remain in the 500G club and get myself another one.......

Oh no... Disaster :(

Is it worth keeping an eye on fleabag for a spares/repair?

Hope you can find another soon enough.

Lovely DIY thread gents - well done

Shouldn't be a problem to find another. Currently out of action at the moment.
I did get a roll of film through it though. I'll post some images later, had some light leak on the photos so the seals needed doing again.

Looks pretty small...... Is it the same size/shell as the 35 trip?
